Data Underground is a fictional, satirical news and commentary site.
Everything You Read Here is Made Up (Except When It Isn’t)
All articles, quotes, statistics, names, dates, headlines, leaked documents, suspicious government memos, prophetic visions, and reports of rogue AI behavior are entirely fictional – unless they accidentally turn out to be true. In that case, we called it first.
Purpose
We use satire, parody, absurdism, and sci-fi world-building to comment on real-world events, behaviors, and systems. Our goal is to provoke thought, spark laughter, and occasionally trigger someone into double-checking their smart speaker’s terms of service.
Target Audience
This site is intended for adults with a semi-functional sense of humor and some degree of media literacy. If you believe everything you read on the internet, you may be in danger.
Not Actual News
We are not a real news organization. We don’t have press credentials, we don’t attend briefings, and we definitely don’t ask permission. No actual journalism takes place here – just the fun kind; fake, just like everyone else’s.
Parody Is Protected
As a form of artistic and social commentary, satire is protected under the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution (and common sense, if that still counts). All resemblances to real events or persons are coincidental, fabricated, or the result of us getting too close to the truth by accident.
If You’re Confused…
Good. That’s half the fun. If you’re outraged, you probably skimmed. And if you’re planning to sue us, we kindly ask that you first read the Terms of Service – and then lie down in a dark room with a nice, cool cloth over your eyes.
